Possible App Store Keyword Ranking Algorithm Update January 2017

If you've seen your iOS app's rank change significantly in early-to-mid January 2017, you're not alone.

While anecdotal, several app marketers from our network representing from diverse categories ranging from games, to finance, to sports to entertainment and others have reported seeing sudden, random changes in keyword ranks unrelated to releasing new builds.

Developers in Apple's online forums also reported concern over a keyword algorithm update.

While it doesn't to have been a full-scale algorithm update, it's possible that these are tremors of a larger update to come. Be vigilant, ASOs!

The Bottom LineSome anecdotal signs indicate that Apple explored a small keyword ranking algorithm change in the month of January, 2017.
